Last week I was notified that my application to become a volunteer photographer for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation was approved. I am both nervous and excited about this opportunity to help. The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) is a network of almost 7,000 volunteer photographers in the United States and twenty-five countries. NILMDTS and all these volunteers "gently provide a helping hand and a healing heart" for families who loose a child before they even leave the hospital.
The whole heart of the organization it to offer a "gentle and beautiful photography service in a compassionate and sensitive manner". The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.
